Chuburna House by Cabrera Arquitectos

Chuburna House is a very simple contemporary residence located in a remote place in the coastal city of Chuburna, along the Yucatan coast of Mexico. This was designed by Cabrera Arquitectos and it comes with a very simple construction, but which perfectly meets the minimalist contemporary principle and simplicity. The contemporary box shape of this house carries the interior through large openings that show the layout of the open plan.

Simple volumetric concrete located on a secluded and quiet beach on Yucatan beach. This house, which is located in a low density area is planted next to another building and inside the dominant mound area on the turquoise coast of the west coast of the Chuburna port, as a large polished concrete box thanks to the chilling volume, Aware and with the presence of very strong tectonics, it become an architectural reference on the beach profile.

Thanks to the luminosity of the window, light penetrates the house in a smooth and controlled manner, allowing the ground floor area to have a unique atmosphere and inviting relaxation, reading and meditation. At the top of the window that is spoken inside the room becomes an instrument of visual communication with the outside to be able to contemplate the extent of the sea.

The interior has quite simple decorations, flavors for Yucatecan crafts, colors and textures and home architecture make it an ideal architectural space to relax and be disconnected from the world. Thinking that the most important thing is space and light, we have chosen a neutral gray color from polished concrete, both on the floor and walls and white as a light screen on a house soffit. This makes a very integral contrast to wood that appears everywhere, in detail, in furniture and doors.

The living room, dining room, kitchen and terrace are single rooms that have a small double height that spatially integrates the ground floor as the upper floor and functions as a distributor of space and filters to place overhead light from several grooves in the superior atrium ceiling.

Next to it, and without separation, there is a dining room. An area that I found very interesting despite its simplicity thanks to the glass that surrounds the room and allows you to see the beach and the sea in the background while you eat.

In front, and without separation, there is a swimming pool. This area is the heart of a very attractive public house because it is fully integrated with interior public spaces, its simplicity allows you to see the beach and the sea in the background while you are in the pool, resting or contemplating the exterior landscape. from the dining room, you can also enjoy this transparency because you enter the house and never lose direct contact with the beach.

The kitchen, also integrated in a unique space on the ground floor without splits, and where the simplicity of the space stands out, the concrete bar almost divides the space with the dining room and the use of pasta floor tapes gives it a special touch design.

At the top and around the double height, a distributor hall is developed where it is connected with studies that turn into niches with views to the south, and also circulation produces a very useful work space for the owner.

The rooms follow the same decorative style, simple and natural that throughout the house, with a lack of furniture, a large wooden presence, large windows to place the landscape in the house and allow us to wake up with the sea as a background background, and a bathroom again in a subtle way integrated into the same bedroom.

Finally, the livable roof serves as a point of view in this fantastic place and as a detailed integration of land in the coastal area is bounded by “albarrada” which is very typical of the rural areas of the state of Yucatan.
